The Constitution of India says that the government is of the people, by the people and for the people. The Prime Minister of India is the chief of government, head of the Council of Ministers and the leader of the majority party in parliament. The Prime Minister leads the executive branch of the Government of India. Dr. Manmohan Singh is in the chair since 2004.

But, Dr. Manmohan Singh was not elected by the people of any Lok Sabha constituencies of India. So then how is he the Prime Minister?

ELIGIBILITY TO BECOME PRIME MINISTER OF INDIA
Article 84 of the Constitution of India sets the principle qualifications one must meet to be eligible to the office of the Prime Minister. A Prime Minister must be:

a citizen of India
should be a member of the Lok Sabha or Rajya Sabha.If a person is elected prime minister who is not a member neither in Lok Sabha nor Rajya Sabha then he must become a member in Lok Sabha or in Rajya Sabha within six months.
of above 25 years of age (in the case of a seat in the Lok Sabha) or above 30 years of age (in the case of a seat in the Rajya Sabha)
As you can see, though not being an elected member of Lok Sabha, he’s a member of Rajya Sabha from the state of Assam and thus he fulfills eligibility criteria. Again, how is a Rajya Sabha MP elected? Not by the people! People’s elected members vote and send their member to Rajya Sabha. Dr. Singh is thus, not people’s representative directly, but he is, indirectly, as per constitution.

What am I trying to say? Well, democracy is sometimes a bit of fallacy. On one hand, our government is for the people, of the people and by the people but on the other hand, our chief of government is not elected by the people.

Do you know the Permanent Address of Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh? Here: House No. 3989, Nandan Nagar, Ward No. 51, Sarumataria, Dispur, Guwahati, Distt. Kamrup, (Assam) – 781006. Its fabricated, just to fulfill clause of law. He’s not from Assam, he never lived there, he wasn’t elected by people of Assam, he himself cannot remember when he went to Assam for the last time, yet, there is his permanent residence.

Times have changed, the Constitution of India needs to be re-written so that We The People Of India can exercise our rights and duly elect our own Prime Minister. He should NOT come through any indirect channels. If India’s PM is not elected by the people, he should not head the government and should never lead the nation. Democracy is for the people, then why the chief can come through backdoor?

BBC Worldwide is a television production house based in Mumbai. We have produced Indian adaptations of hugely successful BBC formats such as Dancing With The Stars (Jhalak Dikhla Jaa – Colors), The Week The Women Went (Wife Bina Life – Star Plus), Baby Borrowers (Pati, Patni aur Woh – Imagine), celebrity Sleepover (Desi Girl – Imagine) and What Not To Wear India – Discovery, to name a few.
BBC Worldwide is now putting together an Indian version of the iconic BBC quiz show – Mastermind. For the very first time, the show is going to have families competing. We are currently looking to cast families that are clever enough to compete on the show and strong enough to battle it out on national television. One special family that makes it to the final leg of the competition will go on to win the coveted title of India’s Smartest Family!
To participate in the show the specifications for casting are as follows-
• The eligible family must consist of four participants.
• Each family must consist of at least one child between the age group of 9 and 13 years.
• Family composition as follows:-
 Option 1 – Mum, Dad, Kid, Grandparent/Relative/Sibling (the sibling can be up to 21 years of age)
 Option 2 – Mum/Dad, Kid, Grandparent, Relative/Sibling (the sibling can be up to 21 years of age)
• All participants must be well versed in Hindi.
All four participating members of the family will need to take two tests individually. The tests will be based on general knowledge, with different difficulty levels and will be of 30 minutes duration.
The family that performs well in the test will move forward to the second test and subject to their scores in this test, they will be selected as one of the families for the show.
Filming for the series will commence on 21st January 2013. The participating family will be required for a minimum of 4 days and a maximum of 8 days, with an additional day of shoot in case the family makes it to the grand finale. Please note that these days are non-linear so the participant family will have to return after scheduled breaks. The schedule for the same will be shared in advance. On the shoot days each family will need to spare up to five hours maximum.
Every episode has four rounds;
• 2 GK rounds (one for the child and one for the family)
• One GK round with a selection of a category for the entire family
• and 1 specialized subject round ( for either the child or family, elected within themselves).
