Got this puzzle in an email-forward today…
IF:
2+3=10
7+2=63
6+5=66
8+4=96
THEN
9+7=?

Approach: Assumed that this was a straight-forward math puzzle with no hidden non-math approach. Tried to find a relation between the equations.
the equations respectively need the following multiplication factors 2,7,6,8. Couldn’t make out a series with the above numbers.
I had an excel whose password was supposed to be the answer to this puzzle.
I first reasoned out thus: 2+6=8, so thew next number must be 7+8-15. Applying this multiplicative factor, 9+7=16*15=240..the excel didnt open!
Then by a stroke of luck, noticed that the multiplicative factor was the same number as the first one in the equation, so tried 9+7=16*9=144..the excel opened ..
not a good puzzle!

procedure: Add the two numbers and then multiply the sum with the first addend
that is 9 + 7 = 16 and 16 x 9 is 144
